You will be joining the Business Team — the team that helps businesses improve their finances with Satispay. We own the financial backbone: fees, payouts, invoicing, compliance, and everything in between. If a business relies on Satispay to get paid correctly and on time, our team make it happen.

What you'll be doing
As a Software Engineer, Backend, in the Business Team, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of digital payments by designing and building scalable, high-quality systems. You'll be delivering features, gaining deep system context, and growing your technical expertise. Here's what your day-to-day will look like:

• Own the Story Lifecycle: Complete the entire story lifecycle from intake to production release. You'll be responsible for standing up product stories and ensuring all requirements are met.

• Build Business Financial Systems: Develop and maintain the services responsible for fee calculations, invoicing, payout orchestration, and settlement flows – ensuring accuracy and reliability for thousands of businesses relying on timely and correct financial operations.

• Deliver Compliance & Reporting Solutions: Contribute to the systems that handle periodic reviews, risk assessments, and transaction reporting, supporting regulatory requirements and providing businesses with transparent insights into their activity.

• Contribute to Technical Excellence: Conduct technical analysis for standard scope stories and implement robust, scalable back-end solutions.

• Work in an AI Engineering Culture: Use AI as a core part of your engineering workflow — from accelerating development and deepening code analysis to challenging your own design decisions. We don't just adopt AI tools; we expect engineers to think critically about when and how to use them, keeping quality, ownership, and judgement at the centre.

• Grow Your Technical Voice: Share what you learn and your vision with the team — whether through code reviews, pair programming, or technical discussions. You won't be expected to lead from day one, but the team leader will support you in building the confidence and skills to become a technical reference for the pod over time.

• Ensure Quality and Stability: Accurately estimate effort and resolve blockers promptly. You will participate in incident resolution including root cause analysis and prevention, ensuring technical transparency across your scope.

• Document and Communicate: Create comprehensive technical documentation for the features you build and collaborate with stakeholders.

Expect challenges, collaboration, and the freedom to bring your ideas to life. Our tech stack includes (but it's not limited to) PostgreSQL, Java, Spring Boot. We rely on AWS for our infrastructure, with microservices deployed on EC2/ECS, S3 for storage, AWS Lambda for serverless functions, and Kinesis and ElasticSearch for log streaming. You'll take ownership of your work from start to finish.

Who we're looking for
We need a problem solver who is eager to learn, owns their work, and is ready to collaborate and to take real ownership. Does it sound like you?

• Experience & Technical Foundations: You have at least 3 years of industry experience working with Java and a foundational understanding of cloud platforms (AWS is a plus).

• Teamwork and Communication: You are able to communicate clearly and professionally, contributing to team-level knowledge sharing and building trust with peers.

• Financial Domain Awareness: You have an interest in – or experience with – financial systems such as billing, invoicing, payouts, or settlement processes. You understand that precision and auditability matter when money is involved.

• User Focus: You care about the end result — not just the code. You want to understand how businesses use the product and ensure the back-end supports a great experience. A genuine interest in FinTech or startup environments is a plus.

• Language Skills: You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
